It was tough.

Went back to Missouri for a little Turk action.  It was a tough go.  The birds had not busted up yet. Still had tons of hens and jakes with them but we were able to make the most of it.  Here are a couple of pics of the hand carved turkey decoy I posted a while back and the unlucky tom that did work.  Not a monster bird 26 lbs. 10.5 " beard and 1" spurs.

Brandon, just head down to the Crystal Falls area. There are two potato farms east of CF with large tracts of State land around them. Litterally, thousands of turkey in this area. Boatloads of red oak stands, so the deer hunting is first rate as well.  Some pressure, but not like southern Michigan... Stop at a local library or the CF MDNR Office for some direction on areas to scout. East of Iron Mountain is another farming cluster where good numbers of birds are located. Cornell down to the farms around Escanaba, and to the west is another good location(we goose hunt these farms-always see turkey flocks all season). Plus, these areas are nearly snow free right now.

Cogar, nice job on both birds! That is a trophy bird in Michigan. Really like the "spoonie" and redhead, too!
