1st Annual WD Decoy Swap
« on: March 11, 2009, 09:07:51 AM »
Ok it sounds like there are several members interested in doing a decoy swap.  So here are the rules:

You can make any species (drake or hen)
There are no limits on how the decoy is to be constructed (all foam, plastic head, molded head, .......)
Everyone is invited to participate regardless of what you think of your skills!!!  The more people we have the more fun it will be.

The shipping date will be May 26 (day after Memorial Day).

I'm going to add it to the calendar on the forum.

I will collect names and addresses of people participating in early May and will PM the send to addresses

Reply to this topic if you are in.

There?s nothing like watching cupped wings drop into a spread of decoys you made yourself.

I have a mag. GW teal hen foamer that is ready for paint and eyes.  It will be my swap bird.  What does everyone else have planned.

Remember, make what you would make to hunt over.  There are no rules as to what it needs to be or be made out of.  The only limit is that it needs to be a Working Decoy.

Mine is a bluebill foamer with a herter head. Nothing near like some of you make, but I would hunt over it. Shawn

Are you going to seperate foam from the wood/cork decoys for the swap?

I'm not planning on it.  I'm going to pick names out of a hat and you make what you want and get what the other person makes.  We have all skill levels so there is no way to balance the decoys.  IE one of Don's foamers is nicer than my wood or cork birds.  It is just for fun and to help build friendships on the forum.  The only requirement is that it be a working decoy.

You've got to leave it somewhat as a surprise...I'm doing a foamer with a foam head (sandwich method). It will be my first one that I made my own head on. I've thrown away several bodies so far I carved just because I wasn't happy with them and came up with a new pattern. We'll see how it turns out.

throw me in there too.  I'm sure I can come up with something.

This is kind of like Picbootyo doing a coloring contest at Safeway... I'll jump in, but it sure isn't going to be anything of your caliber Don!
